Shy Adam and outgoing Yasmine, both in their 20's, meet by chance at a pro-Palestinian demonstration in Montréal and fall in love. Their relationship is challenged from the start, however, for he is an Orthodox Jew, she is an Arab Christian from Lebanon. Both of their families disapprove, each for its own particular reasons, and do all they can to sabotage the relationship from its outset. When Yasmine's mother, a journalist in Beirut, disappears during bombings, the drama in their lives deepens.
