A Secret/Un Secret

Synopsis

An insecure adolescent in post-war France, and a Catholic, always knew that he had been born Jewish.  There was a deeper family secret that he learns only later in life, one that explains the sense of guilt, jealousy, rejection, and betrayal that affected his parents and other members of his family.  This poignant film explores with sensitivity how survivors coped, often through silence, with the emotional scars of survival. A gripping drama with unexpected surprises. Please note: This is the French film. Ha Sodot—the Secrets—is an Israeli film also in this year’s Festival.
