Max Minsky and Me + Soul to Soul (student short)

Synopsis
Nelly Sue Edelmeister is a cerebral 13-year-old Berlin
wallflower who lives for astronomy, with a desire to become a star
basketball player. Her mother, however, feels she should concentrate on preparation
for her forthcoming bat mitzvah. To complicate matters further for Nelly, her
parents’ marriage
is disintegrating. This is a charming and heartwarming coming-of-age film that
will appeal to all ages and it is one of the few German films that
depict modern day dilemmas of that country’s re-born Jewish community.
Soul to Soul
Students at Hillel of Silicon Valley and Congregation Beth David (Saratoga) Hebrew High, recognizing they are the last generation to interview men and women who went through the Holocaust, have collaborated on interviews of Santa Clara County Holocaust survivors in a project called, “MeNeshama LeNeshama (From Soul to Soul)”. They have created a film of some of the interviews. This unique ten minute student movie will be shown prior to “Max Minsky & Me”
